odds and ends

Who would have known that your collection of odds and ends could be so artistic? My favourite is the top one. I could not explain to you why, but I like things like chunky yarn and baker's twine. Maybe because they are so perfect for tying off a present, attaching a tag, or wrapping around a bouquet of wildflowers? This week in particular I am quite design-minded, I began reading a book on interior design and am simply devouring it. After I get through it once I'm going to go through it again and take notes on all the lovely tips and tricks, and of course, my favourite ideas.

I'll eat you up I love you so.

Let the wild rumpus start!

Today is a rainy, terribly cold day and I will spend most of it reading and writing (the required kind, not the fun kind). At least I have the comfort of my electric blanket and a giant-like cup of hot chocolate. I have tonight to look forward to because I will visit the home of a dear friend and we will celebrate the weekend and all sorts of good things.

the fair

I haven't been to the fair in a very, very long time, but if I did, I would want to ride the ferris wheel, have a pink cotton candy, and ride on a horse. Do they have horse rides at the fair? I'm not sure, but it would be marvelous if they did.

A Lovely Tea Party

A couple weekends ago I had some lovely ladies over for tea. We had some delightful biscuits, tea sandwiches, and a French dessert that I cannot recall the name of. It was oh-so-lovely. Below are photos of the tablescape that I designed for this particular event. I used brightly coloured cups and saucers and white luncheon dishes set upon a soft blue linen with striped cloth napkins. One of my favourite elements is the ruffly pink platter in the centre. Platters are so versatile because they can be used to display small vases of flowers, cakes, fruit, or tea sandwiches, as I chose to do. Lastly, I designed and printed placecards and invitations for the event!

baking day

On days like these I crave a glass of creamy milk and raw, broken chocolate. Preferably dark chocolate that is velvety and utterly exquisite. Soon, I plan on having a baking day and I will make one of my many bookmarked recipes! Ah, I do have so many plans, if you only knew.

orange poppies

Poppies are one of my favourite types of flowers, they are simple and strong. They can make a statement. When I see these photos I picture a modern white lounge space with a bold aqua loveseat, big-patterned curtains and orange accents integrated throughout the room.
